The series revolves around the title character SpongeBob SquarePants andcast聽of his aquatic friends. SpongeBob SquarePants is an energetic and optimistic聽sea sponge聽who lives in a submerged聽pineapple.

SpongeBob has a childlike enthusiasm for life, which carries over to his job as a聽fry cook聽at a聽fast food restaurant聽called the聽Krusty Krab owned by Mr. Krabs. He has a pet聽sea snail聽named聽Gary, who meows like a cat.

Living two houses away from SpongeBob is his best friend Patrick Star, a dim-witted yet friendly pink聽starfish聽who resides under a rock. Despite his mental setbacks, Patrick sees himself as intelligent.

Squidward Tentacles, SpongeBob’s next-door neighbor and co-worker at the Krusty Krab, is an arrogant, ill-tempered聽octopus聽who lives in an Easter Island聽moai. He enjoys playing the聽clarinet and painting self-portraits but hates his job as a cashier.
